Fort Collins Community Foundation hands out awards
FORT COLLINS — The Fort Collins Community Foundation recently awarded about $11,000 to area nonprofits. Grants worth $2,000 were issued to Senior Alternatives In Transportation (SAINT) for its transportation program in Loveland and Catholic Charities Northern for its elderly outreach program. The child-care resource and referral program of The Women’s Center for Larimer County was awarded $1,600 and the Elderhaus Adult Day Programs Inc. received $1,200 for its Medicaid benefit helper program.
Grants worth $1,000 were issued to Crossroads Safehouse’s teen outreach program, Junior Achievement-Rocky Mountain Inc. for the Putnam Elementary Whole School Project, Volunteers of America for the retired and senior volunteer program and the Center for Community Justice Partnerships for its young women and men coming together life enhancement series
The city of Fort Collins was awarded $300 for school supplies for youth frequenting the Northside Aztlan Center.

According to Stephanie Hill, program coordinator of Volunteers of America’s retired and senior volunteer program, the award will help the nonprofit impact the community.
“The award will be used to help recruit more seniors and those over 55 to volunteer for our programs,” Hill said. ” If we increase our benefits we can recruit more people. If there are more volunteers in our program we can increase our impact on the community.”
