Fake rocks hide cell-phone towers
It might look like the beginnings of another Stonehenge going up along U.S. Highway 287 north of Fort Collins, but it’s actually a disguised cell-phone tower.
Motorists who may have noticed the “rock building” project going up on a ridge just east of the highway and a few miles north of the Colorado Highway 14 intersection probably wondered if the structure was someone’s idea of a joke.
But it’s no joke, said Garett Wohlberg, strategic project manager for SBA Communications in Denver.
