Wine fest brings spirit to Stanley Hotel

ESTES PARK — Get your taste buds ready for the Estes Park Festival of Wines on April 27-29. The festival, at the Stanley Hotel, will feature seminars, tastings, wine pairing dinners and events throughout Estes Park.

“You might say that a different kind of spirits is coming to the Stanley,´ said Michael C. Brown, general manager of the hotel, which is famous as the inspiration for Stephen King’s horror novel “The Shining.” He said that the Estes Park wine event should be welcome relief from the festivals in Vail and Aspen, where tickets are difficult to obtain.

More than 30 wineries are participating, including the Colorado Wine Industry Development Board, which will host an educational seminar on Colorado wines. The Festival of Wines is a fund-raiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Colorado, which grants wishes to seriously ill children. The other beneficiary is the Estes Park chapter of Quota International, a service organization that helps local people in need.
