In Colorado, 1 in 3 women, 1 in 3 men and 1 in 2 transgender individuals will experience an attempted or completed sexual assault in their lifetime. During April, we recognize Sexual Assault Awareness Month with the hopes of increasing conversations about this very important issue.

And here’s the good news. Business Report organizers have just added a cash bar for the awards luncheon, which will begin at 11 a.m. this year for more networking and a chance to visit with IQ sponsors. The luncheon program, which sold out last year, runs to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24 at the Omni Interlocken Resort in Broomfield. Mark your calendar now!

A nomination form for IQ can be found on page 31A of this issue. Nominations also can be made online at www.IQAWARDS.com. Registration for the luncheon, including corporate tables, also is beginning online.

Founding sponsor Arthur Andersen returns in 2001 as the event’s title sponsor. This year’s partner sponsors include Chrisman Bynum & Johnson, Marsh, MCSi and Engineering Computer Consultants Inc. Associate sponsors include Pratt, Mountain Aviation, Hall Kinion and Glifton Gunderson. A series of ads in the Business Report will begin to feature all of the IQ sponsors.

Corporate sponsorships are still available for what promises to be one of the most upbeat and exciting business events of the year in Boulder County. To involve your company with the IQ awards, contact Business Report Co-Publisher Jeff Schott at(303) 440-4950 or e-mail at jschott@bcbr.com.

“We’re hoping that the most entrepreneurial and innovative companies throughout the county and the Denver/Boulder Corridor will enter this year’s competition,´ said Jerry W. Lewis, co-publisher and editor of The Boulder County Business Report.

IQ Awards will be chosen in multiple categories. Categories will include, but are not limited to, products and services in Internet/Web, Consumer, Telecommunications, Computers & Peripherals, Software, General Business, Children’s Products, Commercial & Industrial, Medical & Health, Biotechnology, Sports & Outdoor Recreation, and Non-Profit Organizations.

Nominations can be made for:

* A product or service that is truly “innovative.” Both start-ups or existing companies with innovative ideas can enter. Judges will review how clever, creative and unique the product or service is.

* The innovation must be able to lead to a “sustainable” business ? one that has excellent market potential for success. Financials of nominees are requested with the nomination form, but a certain level of revenues or profits are not a criteria to become a finalist.

* The product or service needs to be in the marketplace or at least in a testing situation where actual customers are trying it out.

* Finally, nominated companies must be based in Boulder County or in the Denver/Boulder Corridor with close ties to Boulder County.

Companies submitting nominations can include examples of their product and promotional materials about the product or service.

A nomination form also can be requested from the Business Report by calling (303) 440-4950 or by e-mail to jwlewis@bcbr.com. The deadline for all nominations is May 1.
