Local artists open doors; welcome studio visitors

LOUISVILLE — Not everything artistic and cultural in Boulder County takes place on Pearl Street. On the weekend of May 19-20, the second annual East Boulder County Studio Tour in Louisville will give art lovers a chance to visit a select group of visual artists’ studios to see their repertoire and study works in progress. The studios will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the demonstrations are all free. Purchases can be made directly from the artists in their studios.

Artists will also demonstrate their techniques during the event. Last year, visitors were treated to paper making, wood carving and pottery wheel throwing by artists. Some of the participating artists this year include Linda Armantrout, oil painting; Carol Balliet, paper making; Jeff Becker, hand-bound book making; Paula Neumann, acrylic painting; Karryl, bronze wildlife sculpture; David Beumee, porcelain pottery.

There will be an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 18, at the Louisville Center for the Arts at 801 Grant Ave. Works from each of the artists will be displayed, and refreshments will be served. Brochures and maps showing studio locations and examples of art work can be obtained by calling (303) 665-6925 or (303) 604-9958.
