April 14 Kite Festival to benefit new teen center
LAFAYETTE — Time to take to the wind.
Strathmore Park Apartments is holding its Third Annual Kite Flying Festival on Saturday, April 14, at 440 Strathmore Lane, at the end of South Public Road in Lafayette.
This communitywide event features local merchants and residents who donate proceeds to a selected charity. Last year, more than 30 sponsors participated, with proceeds exceeding $1,000.

This year, the festival will donate proceeds to the new Louisville Teen Center, started by Marcie Chambers of Louisville.
Marcie’s daughter, Brittany, recently died from excessive water intake after taking the drug ecstasy. The Teen Center will provide teens with fun activities and counseling services while promoting a drug and alcohol-free environment. The festival hopes to take in $4,000 this year.
