BOULDER ? The city soon will have hip, uptown living in the form of lofts. Nick DiMonico, a Realtor at Wright Kingdom Realtors, has plans in place for seven, high-end urban loft-style condominiums on Pearl Street.

“Boulder’s becoming more urban all the time,” he said. “There appears to be a lot of young professionals who would prefer to live and work downtown.”

The lofts, which have not yet been built, will be located at 20th and Pearl streets. Presale reservations are being taken. The lofts will range in price from $330,000 to $650,000. The contractor for the project is Deneuve Design and the scheduled completion date is July 1.

Ways to thank a caregiver

If you have a caregiver or know someone who has been serving as a primary caregiver, March 3rd is the day to reach out and show them how much they are valued!

The lofts will be high quality, including granite countertops, hardwood floors, maple cabinets and private balconies. They also will feature floor-to-ceiling glass windows with views of the Flat Irons mountains.

“They will have the highest quality finish of any downtown condos in Boulder,” DiMonico said. The ceilings will be as high as 13 feet in places.

Tim Borst, owner of Borst Development, which is developing the project, also owns the downstairs building that includes a salon and a company that sells lights and odometers for bicycles. In addition, he is trying to get a health club to lease a space there, DiMonico said.

“Ideally we’d like to see the space leased to businesses that would service the residences,” he said. “A health club is our number one priority.”

ADDITION TO FLEXTRONICS: Boulder real estate agents Ed Kanemoto and Keith Kanemoto closed late last month on an addition to the existing Flextronics International Ltd. campus at the Del Camino Center on the I-25 corridor at Highway 19 in Weld County.

Flextronics is a leading provider of flexibility and speed in electronics manufacturing services (EMS) to original equipment manufacturers in the fast-growth communications, networking, computer, medical and consumer markets. The company’s headquarters are in Singapore, and it has locations in 27 countries throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.

The recent acquisition by Flextronics will give the company approximately 30 acres of land at I-25 and Highway 19, said Keith Kanemoto.

When build-out is complete, the campus, which now has one building, will have five buildings, he said.

Rita Guthrie, Flextronics office manager, said the company broke ground recently on the second building, which will be 125,000 square feet. The estimated completion date of the new building is June 2001, she said. The building will be used for manufacturing and administrative functions, she said.

The third building, which now is in the planning phase, will be 100,000 square feet and will sit on eight acres, Guthrie said.

The other buildings also are in the planning phase, she said, and the plan at this time is to have all the buildings completed by 2003 or 2004.

Flextronics, which now employs around 650 people, has set a goal to increase its number of employees to 2,500 within the next couple years, Guthrie said.

THISTLE ACQUIRES NEW OFFICE: Thistle Community Housing, Boulder’s largest private, non-profit affordable housing provider, has launched a capital campaign to help fund renovations for its new office at 1845 Folsom St. The office would allow all the staff at Thistle to be under one roof for the first time in its history.

For 15 years, Thistle has been working to provide quality affordable housing alternatives for local residents, said Aaron Miripol, executive director. Thistle is committed to ending the growing displacement of Boulder County resident who can no longer afford to live in Boulder by acquiring, renovating and building quality affordable rental and homeownership housing throughout Boulder County, he said.

Ann Getches, a Thistle Board member, said, “We are very pleased with the public-private partnership coming together to create a permanent home for Thistle in Boulder. Thistle relies on community support and is actively engaged in a capital campaign for this project.

Trisha Koch, a recent Thistle homebuyer, said, “I had searched for several months for a condo through a Realtor, and I wasn’t able to locate a quality home that I could afford until I learned about and worked with Thistle. Thistle’s new office location will make it easier for other first-time buyers to learn about Thistle homes.”

The project has been supported by the city of Boulder, Enterprise Bank, US Bank and the Boulder Urban Renewal Authority. For information, call Thistle at 303-442-8418.LAFAYETTE

CONSTRUCTION WASTE RECYCLING: McStain Enterprises, Western Disposal and the Boulder Energy Conservation Center Resource 2000 program have formed a partnership for a construction waste recycling program at the home builder’s Indian Peaks West community in Lafayette.

Construction is under way at Indian Peaks West and will include 31 townhomes and 211 single family homes incorporating McStain’s Cottage, Country and Manor home plans.

The “recycling yard” will include an area for corrugated cardboard recycling and a separate area for the recycling of dimensional lumber waste.

The BECC Resource 2000 program encourages the reuse and recycling of building materials traditionally discarded during construction and demolition.

The Resource 2000 program was the co-recipient of McStain’s 2000 Corporate Grant Program, which annually provides as much as $17,500 to area non-profit programs that are either land-use related or provide public education in communities where McStain builds.

In addition to the benefits of “Building a Better World,” which is McStain’s corporate mission, the construction waste recycling pilot program will provide education to on-sties trades and will be used to track diverted waste and monitor environmental benefits.
