New Mystic Spa offers massages, body treatments in Longmont

LONGMONT – One of the modern world’s means to revitalizing both body and soul is now at 600 Airport Road.

Opening its doors on Dec. 2, Mystic Spa and Salon, a day spa offering a wide range of services, started refreshing the working weary just in time for the holiday rush.

Headed by Shirley Kasperbauer, the spa offers a host of body nurturing services. Massages, facials, body treatments, manicures, pedicures, waxing, tanning and a full-service hair salon are the main features.

Targeting a middle to upper-class clientele, mainly business professionals, Mystic Spa and Salon is currently staffed by 20 employees.

Also the owner of Hair Fare, a 15-year-old establishment providing hair and nail services, Kasperbauer started Mystic Spa and Salon with funds from Merrill Lynch and Community First Bank.

Kasperbauer said there are a couple of other small spas in the area, including one that opened a couple of months ago, but overall, competition for this type of business isn’t tight.

The expansion of the new location’s services beyond hair and nails necessitated some advice. To assist with the added spa features, Kasperbauer sought Boulder’s Essentials Spa to facilitate consulting-they’ve been a driving force behind the newly established spa ever since.

A Longmont native, Kasperbauer has seen the coming and going of change in the community over the years. And as economic growth continued to bring more and more people to the area, she saw the need for a spa/salon combination catering to business professionals.

Splitting her time between the old salon and the new location, Kasperbauer said she has no plans to expand further right now.
