Dream Foundation needs tutors, mentors

BOULDER — The I Have a Dream Foundation of Boulder County seek volunteer tutors and mentors to aid low-income kids in Boulder County stay in school, prepare for higher education and fulfilling employment.

Volunteers must commit to one or two times a week for a minimum of one semester for the after-school programs tutoring kids ages 8 to 19. Mentoring takes place in the community, and the foundation asks for longer commitment of one year.

The foundation combines long-term, personal relationships and academic programs to help disadvantaged kids succeed.

Nationwide, the organization oversees 133 chapters, and the Boulder chapter was founded in 1990. Today the chapter assists 197 youth in making dreams come true.

Volunteer training sessions will be held either Thursday, Jan. 20, Wednesday, Jan. 26 or Tuesday, Feb. 15 from 6-8 p.m. at the Kalmia Community Center, 3502 Nettingham Court, #6 in Boulder. For information call (303) 604 9070.
