also will share her story. The event begins with a reception at 5:30 p.m.
followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. at the Loews Giorgio Hotel, 4150 E.
Mississippi Ave. in Denver. The public is invited.
Foundation sponsor Karen Bernardi will share how she overcame many
challenging events to realize her personal and professional vision. In 15
short years, Bernardi has built a non-traditional real estate business
with sales in excess of $80 million per year.
Endowment Campaign 2001 was started in 1996 to protect at
least $300,000 into perpetuity as the basis for distributing scholarships
to low-income women with educational goals. Increasing education level is
the key factor in moving women out of poverty.
This money becomes part of the Foundation’s Endowment Fund, which supports a statewide scholarship program for Colorado women of non-traditional student age as they seek to
gain economic self-sufficiency.
Carol Grever Gray, who has set up a $100,000 Endowed Scholarship, was a lead sponsor for the endowment. Arthur Andersen, U S West, Century 21-Bernardi Group, Dain Rauscher-Bill Holmes, Firstate Bank, Jeppesen Sanderson, Lynott & Associates, and others have joined the efforts to help women succeed. The Boulder County Business Report has been a media sponsor for the campaign.
The Foundation’s Turbo Team, a group of 20 women committed to the final phase of
Endowment Campaign 2001, kicked into high gear in August 1999. Since then,
the team has raised more than $119,000 in pledges and contributions from
corporations, foundations, and individuals. New sponsors and donors will
be announced and honored at the Jan. 22 celebration.
The cost of the dinner is $35 per person, $5 of which will
be donated to the BPW Foundation. A table for 10 is $350.
To register, send check payable to “BPW/Colorado” to Kelly Davis, 2110 W. 10th Ave., #201, Broomfield, CO 80020 by Jan. 14. Register early as space is very
limited! Early sell-out is expected.
Colorado BPW Foundation’s next deadline for scholarship applications is March 31,
2000.
