The Eye: Basketball sells off portion

Nothing escapes The Eye, which recently learned that the Harlem Ambassadors, a professional show basketball team based in Fort Collins, has sold a large chunk of the team.
Twenty percent of the team was recently acquired by a group of national sports marketers headed by former Detroit Pistons executive Andrew Appleby. Appleby serves as president and CEO of General Sports of Detroit.
Dale Moss, president and part owner of the Harlem Ambassadors, said Appleby will be a good addition to the team.
“We are very excited to have quality people like this group associated with the development of the Harlem Ambassadors brand,” Moss said in a prepared statement.
Other owners of the Ambassadors include star performer Sandie Prophete and local investor David Karst.
Training camp for the team begins Sept. 9 in Fort Collins, with the tour beginning Sept. 23 in Chadron, Neb.
