E SOURCE conference to examine fundamental industry restructuring’

BOULDER — To capture the very latest thinking on the fundamental utilities industry restructuring, Boulder-based E SOURCE, an information-services company providing analysis of retail energy markets, services and technologies, will convene the first Distribution Company Strategy Conference in January at the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C.

The company said as restructuring continues, utilities across the country are creating new retail and distribution entities. “Although energy companies have focused on negotiating with regulators to optimize shareholder value, they may be overlooking opportunities to strengthen their long-term competitive strategies. The decisions utilities make now will likely shape their futures for decades, defining how their newly formed business units will be allowed to compete and innovate,” according to the company.

The conference will bring together senior executives from electric, gas and water distribution utilities to examine competitive and strategic issues facing distribution companies. As the utility industry restructures itself, executives must restructure their strategies.

“A remarkably wide variety of distribution strategies have already been created in the United States as well as around the world,” James Newcomb, E SOURCE chief executive officer, said in a prepared statement. “The way companies make profits is strongly influenced — and often limited — by critical decisions being made as utilities negotiate their restructuring agreements.”

For complete program and registration details, call Kammi Stout, E SOURCE event manager, at (303) 440-8500 or e-mail her at kstout@esource.com.

E SOURCE’s client roster includes utility companies and other energy-service providers, corporate energy users, consultants and government agencies.
