Letter to the Editor: Paying off national debt should be top priority
For over a month now, I have been intending to let you know how much I liked your editorial regarding erasing the nation’s massive debt.
Before reading your words, I was beginning to wonder if I was one of the only ones who remembered that Social Security funds have been used as a borrowing pool ever since World War II. (Something to do with my age?) Still, in the patriotic mode, no one objected to the use of Social Security dollars to help pay off our war debt; but in the booming economy that followed, it was somehow easy for our politicians to forget to put it (back).
I hope you sent a copy of your editorial to every one of our representatives.
