Where to Live magazine sold to Genesis Publications

BOULDER — Where to Live magazine, a 24-year-old publication showcasing homes for sale in Boulder County, has been sold to an owner who promises to “move the magazine into the age of technology.”

Katy Snyder, who owned a Boulder graphic design, marketing and consulting business for eight years and recently founded Genesis Publications Inc., bought Where to Live in November.

Snyder says she paid owners Rita and John Jakobi between $100,000 and $200,000 for the magazine. The Jakobis will stay on as consultants for the next three months.

Snyder plans to put her graphic design expertise to work on Where to Live. The January issue will feature a new logo, and Snyder is developing a Web site for the magazine. In addition, she plans to offer a full-service design department to Realtors who are featured in the magazine.

Where to Live, a free publication, currently has a circulation ranging from 18,000 to 23,000. The magazine is published every four weeks.

Snyder says her future plans include developing similar publications for the north suburban section of Denver and for Larimer County.
