Dental group expands to Greeley

GREELEY — Dental Health Centers of America Inc. has opened its first Northern Colorado facility in Greeley. The Colorado practice-management firm purchased the dental practices of Drs. Randy Hatch, Charles Johnson and Adam Youngquist to bring the number of centers in the company˜s network to eight. The 2-year-old company has acquired independent dental practices from dentists around the state who "want to get away from the headache of managing their own practice," said Kelly Pascal, marketing manager for the company.
In return for the dentists˜ assets and patient lists, the company handles all aspects of practice management, including insurance contracting, billing, human resources and marketing.
Pascal said the company assumes the administrative duties of the practices they buy, but the dentists continue to make their own clinical decisions.
"Paperwork has become increasingly burdensome for dentists," she said. "We can help them keep up, and we have the ability to make sure they have all the necessary credentials and affiliations and access to the latest techniques in dentistry and state-of-the-art equipment."
The company also serves as a liaison between dentists and managed-care companies, a role of increasing importance to dentists as managed care proliferates in Colorado.
"Managed care is the wave of the future for dentistry," Pascal said . "Because we already have a network of dentists in place, we are a one-stop shop for a managed-care company that wants to offer dental coverage to its members."
The Greeley facility combines the practices of three dentists. Located at 1600 23rd Ave., the center has 16 dental chairs, a staff of about 10 and amenities such as televisions that serve as intraoral cameras so patients can watch the dentists work on them, Pascal said.
