Front Range Inc.: Microsoft, Sun come courting

BOULDER — Cooper & Peters Inc., a Boulder software developer marketing a Java-based component suite, is reportedly in negotiations for a co-marketing deal with Microsoft Corp.

According to Computer Reseller News Online, up until mid-March, Sun Microsystems Inc. was also courting the Boulder firm. Cooper & Peters’ product is code-named EyeOpener and includes a range of Windows 95 controls, as well as a word processor, spreadsheet and charting package, all written in Java.

BOULDER — Boulder-based Mariner Systems Inc. has sold its automated records management division and will refocus on the $2 billion managed-care software arena.

On March 1, Software iNTelligence Inc, a subsidiary of the Omaha, Neb.-based plaNetSoftware 2000 Inc., took possession of the division and began development, operation and support of the three products involved in the transaction, LegalTRAX, AccounTRAX and InfoTRAX.

Hauser finally profitable

BOULDER — For the first time in nine quarters, Hauser has recorded a profit, posting net income of $13,914. The Boulder-based pharmaceutical, natural ingredient and technical services company reported a net loss of $1.7 million for the same period a year ago.

Hauser’s Chief Financial Officer David Rosenthal attributed the profit to accelerated sales expected in the fourth quarter.

Wild Oats still hungry

BOULDER — Wild Oats Markets Inc. has acquired two Oasis natural-foods supermarkets in Eugene, Ore. This acquisition brings to 44 the number of stores operated by Wild Oats in nine states and British Columbia. The company also closed on the acquisition of two Wholly Harvest Markets in Boca Raton and West Palm Beach, Fla.
