Local bank will expand at retail site

FORT COLLINS — Drake Crossing shopping center at Taft Hill Road and Drake Road is about to become First National Bank Plaza.

In addition to scoring a name change at one of the city’s popular retail centers, First National Bank will open a new branch in 1,800 square feet formerly occupied by Pulcinella Ristorante & Pizzeria. The well-known restaurant is moving to larger space nearby.

The bank should open Feb. 3. In April, a drive-up will be completed in what now is the southwest parking lot of the shopping center off of Drake Road and Hampshire Road.

The move means that after this month’s expansion with Union Colony Bank (where Union Colony’s Larimer County operations change to First National Bank locations), First National will have four sites in Fort Collins.

Major tenants in the shopping center include Safeway and Walgreen’s.

Other changes for the bank include closing its Loveland location near the Rocky Mountain Factory Stores and Interstate 25.

“The outlet mall site was meeting our expectations,´ said Mark Driscoll, president of First National Bank, “but when it was determined we would merge with Union Colony, it was decided that we should focus our resources on that.”

There remains a First National and Union Colony in Loveland. When the merger is complete, both those facilities will be consolidated into a new site on North Lincoln Avenue in Loveland.

Driscoll said that hopefully will take place in April.

The new, full-service Fort Collins location will employ eight to 10 and will be managed by Jennifer Wagner.
