Impressive Images adds Boulder site

FORT COLLINS – Barely 18 months after its debut in Fort Collins, a local service bureau has expanded to Boulder.Impressive Images Inc., 530 S. College Ave., already had clients in Boulder County.
“We’d been servicing some customers from there, but it’s hard to do from far away,´ said Scott Ackerman, owner and manager of the company.
So last month, Impressive Images launched an office at 1780 E. 55th St. in east Boulder. The 5,600-square-foot space now hosts three employees.
“We service advertising agencies, designers and high-end corporate accounts,” Ackerman said, adding that it can be a competitive market with other similar businesses already in the Boulder market.
However, Ackerman contends that his company tends to target a market different from that served by existing firms.
In his favor, though, is his location and employees who know the Boulder market and can work to capture business there.
The new office occupies space once held by Universal Graphics, a well-known Boulder firm that at one time did $4 million in revenues. Universal went out of business in March after its takeover by another company.
“What happened is that the market (Universal’s former clients) is still being served, but mostly by separators in Denver,” Ackerman said.
His new shop, which includes a former Universal employee, intends to return some of that business to Boulder.
“We’d been looking to make the move for about a year,” Ackerman said. “Basically, we were waiting to find the people. The location and the equipment were easy to get.”
The new shop is managed by Wade Austad.
Impressive Images offers services that include high-end color scanning, film output, color separations, match prints, digital photography and more.
The 4,000-square-foot Fort Collins office, which has been serving clients both in Fort Collins and Loveland, now is staffed by seven people.
