Xcel Energy remains on Dow Jones Sustainability Index

Xcel Energy Inc. (NYSE: XEL) has been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for North America for the eighth consecutive year.

The index recognizes companies around the world for corporate sustainability.

“Our customers increasingly want clean energy and innovative options for meeting their need. Our industry is rapidly changing and faces many challenges, but our commitment to providing affordable energy in an increasingly sustainable way will not change,” said Ben Fowke, chairman, president and chief executive of Xcel Energy, in a statement.

Headquartered in Minneapolis, Minn., Xcel Energy provides electric power and natural gas in eight states, including Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, and Wisconsin.

The company also was ranked No. 2 for renewable energy sales and No. 5 for energy-efficiency savings in a Ceres report, which compares the clean-energy performance of 32 investor-owned utilities nationwide.
