Woodward’s first phase will be larger than planned

LOVELAND – The first phase of Woodward’s new global headquarters, officially called the Woodward Technology Center, will be larger than originally thought, according to Rocky Scott, director of corporate affairs for Woodward.

The first phase of the project, which broke ground last month, will house the company’s Industrial Turbomachinery Systems division, was initially planned to be 215,000 square feet, but more recent design plans show that the building will be closer to 275,000 square feet. Other buildings in phase one will bring the total to 355,000 square feet.

Woodward decided earlier this year to construct its new global headquarters at the intersection of Lemay and Lincoln avenues in Fort Collins. By the time the project is fully built-out, which could take decades, it will encompass 870,000 square feet, Scott said, not including mixed-use commercial space being developed on the corner of the 101-acre property by Allen Ginsborg of NewMark Merrill Mountain States.

Scott gave an update on the project to a group of about 400 professionals gathered for the 17th annual Northern Colorado Real Estate Conference, held Monday. Construction on the first phase of the Woodward Technology Center should be complete in fall 2015, according to Scott’s presentation.

Scott’s remarks were preceded by an update on the CSU Everitt Real Estate Center, which organizes the conference every year. This year’s conference included collaboration from both the National Association of Home Builders and the Northern Colorado Commercial Association of Realtors.

The Everitt Center has established an advisory board in Denver in addition to its board in Fort Collins and will begin holding events in Denver beginning in February, according to Eric Holsapple, executive director of the center.

The center will also relocate from its current location within the College of Business building on CSU’s campus to a building at 638 Sherwood St., across Laurel Avenue from Rockwell Hall, where the College of Business is located. Tenant finish on the new space is underway, according to Holsapple.
