Weld’s Kirkmeyer named to CDOT freight panel
GREELEY — Barbara Kirkmeyer, chairwoman of the Weld County Board of Commissioners, has been selected to serve on the Colorado Department of Transportation’s Freight Advisory Council.
Debra Perkins-Smith, CDOT’s director of transportation development, chose Kirkmeyer because of her involvement on the Statewide Transportation Advisory Committee, which provides advice to CDOT about transportation needs and reviews all regional transportation plans.
“The ability to move freight safely and efficiently is crucial to the success of not only our state but also our country,” said Kirkmeyer in a media release from Weld County. “The purpose of the Freight Advisory Council is to make sure Colorado’s infrastructure receives the upgrades and maintenance it needs to remain as strong as possible. Our economy depends on it.”

The panel also will offer solutions to these issues, help prepare for future transportation needs and assist CDOT with prioritizing freight programs, projects and research.
