Waypoint moving loan-production office from Longmont to Loveland

LONGMONT — Nebraska-based First Bank & Trust Co., has received approval from the Colorado Division of Banking to open a loan-production office at 2114 N. Lincoln Ave. in Loveland, scrapping plans for an office in Longmont.

Last August, the Cozad, Neb.-based bank, doing business as Mountain View Bank in Colorado and using the name Waypoint Bank for the loan-production office, was approved to open an office at 1155 S. Main St. in Longmont, after being approved for an office in Frederick.

The bank hired longtime community banker Tom Beckett as its Northern Colorado market manager. Beckett was working the market from his home, but the office in Longmont never opened, Beckett said Monday.

In September, Beckett left Waypoint to join Elevations Credit Union as a senior commercial lender. In November, Waypoint hired David Besch to serve as its Northern Colorado market manager, and he is expected to work out of the office in Loveland. Besch could not be reached for comment.

Besch, a graduate of Colorado State University, has worked for Advantage Bank, AMG National Trust Bank and Home State Bank.

The office will focus on commercial lending, including loans for residential construction and equipment, and will offer a full slate of Small Business Administration loans, including 504 and 7a loans.

First Bank & Trust operates mostly in Nebraska, and it operates in Colorado Springs using the name Mountain View Bank. The Mountain View Bank of Commerce in Westminster is not affiliated with the Nebraska-based bank.

First Bank & Trust in 2015 received approval to open a loan-production office in Frederick, but later changed the location to Longmont without ever opening in Frederick.
