Village at the Peaks to host ‘Block Party’ preview of new Longmont shopping center

LONGMONT — The public will be able to get a glimpse of the Village at the Peaks outdoor shopping center under construction in Longmont when the developer hosts a free back-to-school Block Party and Property Preview from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 22.

“We are excited to welcome the community to get an early look at the new property, celebrate the new school year and start having some fun at the new Village at the Peaks,” said Allen Ginsborg, managing director and principal of Fort Collins-based NewMark Merrill Mountain States, in a prepared statement.

A key element of the free event is the “stuff the bus” school supplies donation to benefit I Have a Dream Foundation of Boulder County. Members of the community are encouraged to bring a new, unused school supply donation to “stuff the bus” at Village at the Peaks throughout the day and enjoy free tastes and samples from participating restaurants, plus horse-drawn carriage rides to view the construction progress.

In addition to a bounce house, face painters, balloon artists and a live DJ, guests can try samples from Village at the Peaks’ retailers, including tacos from Fuzzy’s Tacos, sliders from Bad Daddy’s Burgers and submarine sandwiches from Jersey Mike’s. There also will be karate demonstrations by Ripple Effect karate studio; dog tags and other giveaways from Chuck and Don’s; a robot demonstration from St. Vrain Valley School’s Innovation Center; a battle of the bands featuring local high schools; and giveaways from Wyatt’s Wine and Spirits, Pie Five, Gold’s Gym, Sports Authority, and T-Mobile.

Access to the event is on Ken Pratt Boulevard (between Burger King and Taco Bell) near South Hover Road.

The public is invited to pre-register for the event by visiting www.villageatthepeaks.com where there will be an RSVP link across the homepage.

To date, the $90 million, 490,000-square-foot center, on the site of the former Twin Peaks enclosed mall, is approximately 80 percent leased by 23 retailers, restaurants and services, including anchors Whole Foods, Sam’s Club and Regal Cinemas, plus Wyatt’s Wine & Spirits, The Sports Authority, Gold’s Gym, Party City, Chuck & Don’s Pet Food and Supplies, Parry’s Pizza, Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar, The Melt, Pie Five, Culver’s, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, Village Inn, Jersey Mike’s, Visionworks, Supercuts, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, Luxury Nails and Spa, Ripple Effect and Pacific Dental.
