Village at the Peaks in Longmont names 5 tenants slated for November openings

LONGMONT — You’ll be able to hit the Village at the Peaks shopping center this holiday season to stock up on libations, let your Christmas food coma wear off in front of a movie, and burn off the extra pounds. The organic holiday ham will have to wait.

NewMark Merrill Mountain States, developer of the Village at the Peaks shopping center, on Thursday announced the names of five businesses slated to open in November at the $90 million, 490,000-square-foot redevelopment of the former Twin Peaks Mall site.

The Regal Cinemas movie theater, Wyatt’s Wine and Spirits liquor store, Gold’s Gym, Sports Authority and a Ripple Effects martial arts studio will open next month. Specific opening dates haven’t been announced, though NewMark principal Allen Ginsborg said Thursday that he expects all five to be open before Thanksgiving.

Ginsborg said that Whole Foods, one of the other major anchors, is slated to open in late January.

In addition to the five openings in November, Ginsborg said announcements on more openings slated for December and January would be forthcoming, as well as details of a Village at the Peaks holiday celebration set for Dec. 5.

Ginsborg said construction on most of the Phase 1 buildings is “fairly close to complete.”

“We’re in what you call the final detail phase,” Ginsborg said.

Subsequent waves of store openings will happen in the spring. Sam’s Club, the other major anchor, is also slated to open next year.

Village at the Peaks is now nearly 85 percent leased, with 25 retailers, restaurants and services, NewMark officials said. The full list includes: Whole Foods, Sam’s Club, Regal Cinemas, Wyatt’s Wine and Spirits, Sports Authority, Gold’s Gym, Party City, Chuck & Don’s Pet Food and Supplies, Parry’s Pizza, Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar, The Melt, Pie Five, Culver’s, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, Village Inn, Jersey Mike’s, Visionworks, Supercuts, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, Luxury Nails and Spa, Ripple Effect, Pacific Dental, Spavia Day Spa and Samuel’s Jewelers.

Phase 2, which includes about 38,000 square feet of space near the former Dillard’s building, isn’t slated for construction until sometime next year. Ginsborg said he’d like to allow Phase 1 to be “seasoned” for a bit to help attract quality retailers for the final spaces before leasing them.

“We want the project to be up and running so it shows as strong as it possibly can,” Ginsborg said.
