Vestas wins five South Africa wind projects

Vestas announced Monday  the company was chosen as the supplier for five wind projects in South Africa with a total capacity of 297 megawatts.

Vestas, however, did not name the projects’ developers.

The company operates facilities in Windsor, Brighton and Pueblo. It has threatened to cut manufacturing jobs in the U.S. if Congress does not renew a wind tax credit set to expire at the end of the year.

Vestas will decide during the third quarter on its future footprint in the U.S. market in case the production tax credit is not extended, the company said in a first-quarter earnings statement earlier this month.
