Venture capitalist donates $1.5 million for CSU student veterans

FORT COLLINS – Dennis Repp, a businessman, 1960 CSU alumnus and U.S. Army veteran, has donated more than $1.5 million to a CSU program that serves injured student veterans, CSU said Monday.

Repp’s donation funds the New Start Program, housed in the Center for Community Partnerships in the university’s Department of Occupational Therapy. As part of the program, student veterans develop strategies to deal with learning problems, memory problems and accessibility issues.

The New Start Program also allows CSU’s occupational therapy students to work with student veterans while learning about the challenges of specific disabilities and forming strategies to address these challenges.

Repp donated $50,000 to help start the CSU program. He later gave the $1.5 million to establish the Repp Distinguished Veterans Fund supporting New Start. The program is free for student veterans thanks to Repp’s contribution.

As manager of Allstate Insurance’s venture-capital operations, Repp steered venture capital toward several startups. He also served as Union Bank’s president of venture-capital operations.
Repp built his own companies, as well, including Storage Technology Corp. in Louisville.
