Vail Resorts, Breckenridge compromise on lift ticket tax ballot measure
The town of Breckenridge will ask voters in November whether to add a 4.5 percent tax on winter lift tickets at Breckenridge Ski Resort.
The Denver Post reports that the ballot measure is a compromise between Broomfield-based ski resort owner Vail Resorts and the town, which is trying to raise funds to alleviate traffic issues through parking and transit projects.
The measure does not include Vail Resorts’ Epic Pass season passes, which include access to other resorts both inside and outside Colorado. The Post reports that the tax is expected to raise at least $3.5 million for the town.
