UW to unveil Energy Research Center Sept. 12

A $25.4 million energy research center will launch formally Sept. 12 at the University of Wyoming in Laramie.

“Building a sustainable energy future is such an important objective, and the Energy Innovation Center represents the kind of public-private partnership that is essential for the university to fulfill its mission of teaching, research and service,” University of Wyoming President UW President Robert Sternberg said in a statement.

The university’s Energy Innovation Center is financed with private donations and state matching funds,  and includes 27,300 square feet of classrooms, laboratories and research space.

The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on the north side of the Laramie campus at Lewis and 19th streets. Wyoming Gov. Matt Mead is schedule to speak. Tours of the new facility will be provided after the ceremony.
