Udi’s Foods changes name to Baron Group

DENVER – Udi’s Foods has changed its name to Baron Group and rebranded its cafes, restaurants, bakery and catering business.

The artisan bakery at 185 South 104th St. in Louisville is now Izzio Artisan Bakery, inspired by head baker Maurizio Negrini.

The cafes and catering business are called Etai’s Cafes and Etai’s Catering after the company co-founder and CEO, Etai Baron.
The full-service restaurants are called Silvi’s Kitchen, after Udi Baron’s mother.

The group has nine cafes and restaurants, including two locations on the University of Colorado-Boulder campus, one at the Jenny Smoly Caruthers Biotechnology Building and another at the Leeds School of Business building.
In 2012, the Baron family sold its granola and gluten-free businesses, as well as its company name, Udi’s Foods, to Boulder Brands. The deal required that Udi’s change its name by July of this year.

The Denver-based family-owned business established in 1994 came up with the new names through a contest.

“Initially we were in search of one company name,´ said Etai Baron, chief executive of the Baron Group. “When we received positive feedback about not just one, but three possible company names, we were inspired to zig when we originally planned to zag. We’ve created sub-brands for each different business using all three names.”

Each person whose entry was selected will receive a party for 20, worth up to $1,000.
