Swissport nixing 187 jobs at DIA

A Swiss company that earlier this summer gained a contract at Denver International Airport with Spirit Airlines is now laying off 187 full-time employees due to what the company terms a “significant loss of business.”

BusinessDen.com reports that Swissport, which contracts with airlines to provide various services like ticketing and baggage loading and employs 600 people at DIA, will begin making the cuts to ramp agent, baggage handler, customer service, supervisor and mechanic positions on Sept. 16.
