Sunrise gets $5M grant to build north Greeley clinic

GREELEY – Sunrise Community Health has been awarded a $5 million federal grant to help it build a health campus in north Greeley, it announced Tuesday.

Building a family medical clinic next to the Monfort Children’s Clinic and Sunrise Family Dental at 11th Avenue and A Street will expand affordable health care in the community, it said in a press release.

Completion is anticipated within the next two to three years.

The grant is one of 171 across the nation made under the Health Care Reform law.

Sunrise also received $150,000 to expand pediatric dental service by adding two “operatories” at the Monfort Children’s Clinic.

The money will also allow it to made upgrades at Sunrise clinics including improving clinic security.

“These projects are key to our strategic mission to provide affordable health care to all,´ said Mitzi Moran, president and CEO of Sunrise. “Healthy people can work; healthy children perform better in school. A strong workforce and high-performing schools lead to a healthier community.”

Sunrise opened its doors in 1973 as a migrant health clinic in Gill. Today, Sunrise’s nine clinics provide health care services to more 30,000 individuals and families in Weld and Larimer counties.
