WomenGive, a program of United Way of Larimer County, was started in Larimer County in 2006 as an opportunity for women in our community to come together to help other women.

Sunrise received a one-time Health Infrastructure Improvement Program grant of $476,000 that will be used to renovate and expand Sunrise Family Dental in north Greeley. It also received an Expanded Services grant of $338,166, which will be used to add dental staff and expand services primarily at Sunrise Family Dental in Weld County and to expand its Loveland Community Health Center in Larimer County.

Mitzi Moran, Sunrise’s chief executive, said in a prepared statement that in 2014 Sunrise provided health services to nearly 34,000 people in Weld and Larimer counties who struggle with low-income, being uninsured and/or being under-insured. It provided dental care to 7,148 people, through 21,615 visits.

“Our clinics are fully booked, a trend that will continue with the growing population in the region,” Moran said. “We are grateful and proud to be a recipient of this funding; we look forward to providing more quality dental care to more people in need.”

In Weld County, 37 percent of adults have not had a recent dental exam compared to a 31 percent Colorado average and a 30 percent U.S. rate, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System.
