Summit to focus on future of jobs

FORT COLLINS – About 200 business professionals and community leaders are expected to attend a July 31 “Future of Jobs” event.

The Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce is holding the event to focus on local and state employment trends, national economic predictions and more. The program will run from 7:15 to 11 a.m. at the Hilton Fort Collins, 425 W. Prospect Road.

Confirmed speakers and topics include: Regional economist Martin Shields discussing trends in the advanced technology industry; Cindy DeGroen, a projections demographer at the Colorado Department of Local Affairs, discussing the aging workforce in Colorado; and J.D. Foster, a U.S. Chamber of Commerce deputy economist, sharing national economic trends.

Exploring & expressing grief

Support groups and events, as well as creative therapies and professional counseling, are all ways in which Pathways supports individuals dealing with grief and loss.

The interactive program also will include “ignite”-style presentations by area economic-development professionals including Fort Collins Area Chamber president and chief executive David May, city economic health director Josh Birks, Northern Colorado Economic Development Corp. CEO Walt Elish, Rocky Mountain Innosphere vice pesident for capital access Doug Johnson and Larimer County Workforce economic development manager Jacob Castillo.

Attendees also can weigh in on current issues and trends.

Christopher Wood
Christopher Wood is editor and publisher of BizWest, a regional business journal covering Boulder, Broomfield, Larimer and Weld counties. Wood co-founded the Northern Colorado Business Report in 1995 and served as publisher of the Boulder County Business Report until the two publications were merged to form BizWest in 2014.
