Rocky Mountain National Park faces $67.7M in deferred maintenance
Rocky Mountain National Park has $67.7 million in deferred maintenance projects, including the roof on the Kawuneeche Visitor Center and some 370 miles of trails that need millions in repairs, according to an annual report from the National Park Service released Monday.
The Denver Post reports that the 12 Colorado National Park Service properties as a whole have $205 million in such projects that have been put off. Mesa Verde National Park is second on the list with $63.8 million in deferred maintenance, while Dinosaur National Monument needs $32.1 million in work.
The report comes as the park service asks Congress for a budget increase of $300 million over each of the next three years.
