Report: Weld County job growth led nation in 2014

For the second year in a row in 2014, Weld County saw the greatest percentage of job growth of any of the nation’s 339 largest counties, according to a new report released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics on Wednesday.

The number of jobs in Weld grew by 8 percent, tying it with Midland County Texas for the top spot. Adams County, Colorado came in third with 6.4 percent job growth, followed by Lee County, Florida and Williamson County in Tennessee.

The rankings looked at counties with more than 75,000 jobs and measured the percentage growth from December 2013 to December 2014. National job growth during the period was just 2.2 percent.

Weld added 2,074 jobs in the natural resources and mining sector during the year.
