Region’s apartment rental rates continue climb in September

Boulder remains the most expensive city in Colorado for apartment rents and posted the third-fastest growth in rental rates in the state, according to figures for September released today by San Francisco-based Apartment List.

The average monthly rent for a two-bedroom apartment in Boulder rose to $2,000, according to the Apartment List figures, and the city ranked third in the state for overall growth in rents, with prices rising by 9.4 percent from September 2014. Its average of $1,650 to rent a one-bedroom apartment came in second in the state, $10 a month behind Golden’s figure.

Broomfield’s average $1,590 monthly rent for a two-bedroom apartment ranked fourth highest in the state, and Longmont ranked seventh in overall rent growth, seeing 8.5 percent growth in overall rent growth from the same month last year.

Fort Collins averaged monthly rents of $970 for a one-bedroom and $1,050 for a two-bedroom unit in September, the report said. Two other cities in Northern Colorado were relative bargains for one- and two-bedroom apartment rents, with Loveland averaging $750 and $920 while Greeley averaged $650 and $850. Longmont averaged $800 a month for a one-bedroom unit and $1,100 for two bedrooms.

Colorado rents overall are growing at 6.2 percent, more than twice the national average of 3 percent, the report said.
