Premium Powder Coating to move from Frederick to Longmont

LONGMONT — Shane Connors, owner of Premium Powder Coating Inc. in Frederick, has purchased the 61,100-square-foot warehouse building at 1850 Lefthand Circle in Longmont for $2.75 million.

Connors bought the building using the entity B.F.S.L. Holdings LLC. He plans to renovate the former beer-distribution building and move his powder-coating business from 8413 Rowe Place in Frederick, where it occupies 18,000 square feet. He expects to have the move completed in four to five months. He plans to sell the building in Frederick.

Connors said the company has about 20 employees now and expects to add about 10 more employees when the move to Longmont is made.

“We’ve been growing ever since we started. When I bought this building (Rowe Place) I thought we’d be here forever,” Connors said. “But now, we are crammed in here and need a lot more space.”

Premium Powder Coating has been in business since 2000. Powder coating is a process of coating metal with a plastic finish applied in powder form and baked to a fluid state to bond it to the metal surface. The finish is more durable than paint. The company provides services that include powder coating bicycles, motorcycles, automobiles, metal railings, spiral staircases, chimney caps and large metal objects for manufacturers.

The seller of the building in Longmont was Beaver Creek Investments, which constructed the building in 1977 as a beer-distribution facility. After the beer-distribution company closed, Beaver Creek leased the space to several different companies before putting it up for sale.

Jason Kruse of the Colorado Group in Boulder represented the seller. Keith Kanemoto of Re/Max Traditions’ commercial division in Longmont represented Connors.
