Owner of Boulder preschool adding 2nd location with Louisville building purchase

LOUISVILLE – The owner of Active Boulder Kids preschool recently paid $477,225 for the building at 1970 Centennial Drive in Louisville where she plans to open a second school by August.

Kristen Argow Heaton bought the building from Realty Income Corp. out of California. The building has been vacant for the past three years but was previously a La Petite Academy preschool.

Heaton, whose Boulder school at 5001 Pennsylvania Ave. serves 36 children, said Friday that Active Louisville Kids will be licensed for 103 and accept children as young as 6 weeks old. She said the facility could employ as many as 30 people at peak enrollment.

“With all the growth and development around Louisville, it seemed like a good time to open another school there,” Heaton said.

Heaton, who opened her Boulder school in 2008, said renovations on the Louisville school are starting this weekend. Her hope is to be open by June 1 but said the school will be “up and running for sure by August.”

David Tilton and Frank Griffin of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank represented the seller in the building sale, while Hartwood Properties represented the buyer.
