ACCOUNTING

Teresa Kaufman, CPA, has joined Dryg & Associates, CPAs in Loveland. She has a master’s degree in accounting from CSU and has worked in public accounting for the past 11 years. She specializes in real estate, partnership and S corporation tax planning and compliance. She also is on the board of directors for Homeless Gear, a nonprofit that assists homeless individuals and families.

FINANCE

First Western Trust announced that Northern Colorado-based associate Banner Green has been awarded the Certified Trust & Financial Advisor designation from the Institute of Certified Bankers, a subsidiary of the American Bankers Association in Washington, D.C. Green is responsible for the trust administration activities for all Northern Colorado trusts. This includes reviewing and interpreting trust documents as well as identifying, maintaining and distributing trust assets. Within the Northern Colorado community, Banner places an emphasis on working with low-income youth and family violence awareness campaigns.

Home State Bank announced the addition of Jennifer Wagner to the Fort Collins business banking/real estate lending team. Wagner has more than 20 years of experience in banking and real estate lending in Northern Colorado. She will specialize in providing construction- and real estate-related financing to individuals and builders for Home State Bank.

Morgan Stanley announced that Bruce Hemmings, a financial advisor in the firm’s Loveland office, was named a 2012 Five Star Professional Wealth Manager. This award recognizes a select group of wealth managers who represent less than 7 percent of the wealth managers in the Northern Colorado area.

HEALTH CARE

Advanced Medical Imaging Consultants in Fort Collins announced Dr. Chris M. Fleener as president, effective Jan. 1. Fleener joined Advanced Medical Imaging Consultants in 2006 and has served as the medical director at McKee Medical Center and Skyline Center for Health in Loveland, as well as at Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan. Additionally, Fleener has served as treasurer and information technology director for AMIC.

Larimer County Medical Society announced new additions at its annual meeting in December. Dr. Christie M. Reimer, an internist with Colorado Health Medical Group, was named as president. Dr. John Cawley, a family physician with Associates in Family Medicine, was elected president-elect, and Dr. S. Lee Goacher, urgent care physician with Colorado Health Medical Group, will remain as treasurer. Drs. Robert Benz, Cory Carroll, Bruce Cooper, Sarvjit Gill, William Lanting, Krishna Murthy, Janet Seeley and Jeffrey Donner were all elected as delegates to Colorado Medical Society for two-year terms. Drs. Robert Ellis, Daniel Langer, Parker Preble, Michael Towbin and Rod Holland were elected alternate delegates. All are joining 16 other board members whose terms continue. Dr. Jan Gillespie was confirmed as a Colorado Medical Society board member. A scholarship was awarded to fourth-year medical student at Rocky Vista University of Osteopathic Medicine Kenton Asche for $5,000.

INSURANCE

Stewart Title Co. announced the addition of Lindsay Gilliland as business development officer for its Northern Colorado division. In this position, she will be responsible for developing new customers and accounts in Larimer and Weld counties. Gilliland received a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Purdue University. Prior to joining Stewart, she served as a senior account executive at the Northern Colorado Business Report for 13 years. She is also active in the community as a volunteer for organizations including Partners Mentoring Youth, Habitat for Humanity, Realities for Children and WomenGive.

LAW

Myatt Brandes & Gast P.C. announced that Ryan S. Thorson has joined the firm as an associate attorney. Thorson will practice in the areas of commercial litigation, business, banking and real estate law. Prior to joining the firm, Thorson was an associate attorney for more than four years at Vahrenwald, Johnson & McMahill LLC in Fort Collins and was a federal law clerk for the U.S. District Court for the District of Wyoming.

MISCELLANEOUS

The Loveland Chamber of Commerce announced the winners of the Annual Investor Awards on Jan. 18. Medical Center of the Rockies received the Large Business of the Year award; Sandler Training, Top Line Growth received the Small Business of the Year award; Deanna Sloat with Guaranty Bank received the Heart Award; Nicole Yost with Fyn Public Relations was named Young Professional of the Year; Noreen Flood received the Ambassador of the Year award; Maryjo Morgan received the Ambassador Rookie of the Year Award; and McKee Medical Center Foundation received the Nonprofit of the Year Award.

MEDIA/MARKETING

Chris Morrissey, owner of Proforma Big Dog Branding, a Fort Collins-based print and promotional products distributor, was recently awarded a Gold Pyramid Award by the Promotional Products Association International at their annual expo in Las Vegas. This award recognizes the “outstanding and creative use” of promotional products by a distributor in its client programs and campaigns. This is the 10th Pyramid Award Morrissey’s company has won.

REAL ESTATE

Ryan Andre with Sears Real Estate has earned the nationally recognized Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource certification. The National Association of Realtors offers the certification to those who want to assist both buyers and sellers in transactions. The certification program includes training on how to qualify sellers for short sales, negotiate with lenders, protect buyers and limit risk, and provides resources to help realtors stay current on national and state-specific information as the market for distressed properties evolves.
