ACADEMICS
Len Roark, a volunteer at Poudre School District, was recognized as the 2012 Outstanding Community Education Advocate at the Excellence in Education Awards Banquet. Roark’s volunteering at the school district began in 1995 when he joined the School Improvement Team and became the Wellington representative on the District Advisory Board. The Excellence in Education Award program has recognized teachers, staff and community education advocates for more than 25 years.

CONSTRUCTION
Heath Construction, a Fort Collins commercial construction company, has added two new employees to its team. Marti Bruening is Heath’s new internal marketing assistant. Bruening joined the team with 11 years of marketing-related experience, including four years as proposal manager/sales and marketing lead at Colorado CustomWare. She has also served as editor of several local newspapers.

John Sinnett is Heath’s new chief estimator. Sinnett brings 18 years of management experience and LEED accreditation to the position. He has several years experience, both as vice president and project manager with family-owned Sinnett Builders in Fort Collins and as a preconstruction manager at Milender White Construction Company in Denver.

FINANCE
Northwestern Mutual honored Ryan E. Yoder, CLU, ChFC, affiliated with the Cunningham Financial Group-a Northwestern Mutual office, based in Fort Collins, with its 2012 Western Region Managing Director Award. The honor recognized Yoder for an outstanding year of performance serving the financial security needs of clients and policyowners throughout the region.

Stacey Johnson joined Equitable Savings & Loan in Fort Collins as a loan officer. Before joining Equitable Savings & Loan, Johnson was with Universal Lending’s office in Fort Collins and has 25 years of loan experience.

Chris Jeavons joined Verus Bank of Commerce as a senior vice president and commercial lender. Jeavons, a graduate of Bowling Green State University in Ohio and the Colorado Graduate School of Banking, will be focused primarily on business development efforts for the bank. He began his banking career with the Central Bank of Denver in 1973 and has been involved in Northern Colorado community banking since 1986.

GOVERNMENT
City of Fort Collins Councilmember Gerry Horak was appointed to the National League of Cities 2012 Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Steering Committee. The committee has the lead responsibility for developing NLC federal policy positions on issues involving air quality, water quality, energy policy, national wetlands policy, noise control, and solid and hazardous waste management. Horak will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocate on behalf of America’s cities and towns.

HEALTH CARE
Briauna Souders is the new urgent-care practice manager for Urgent Care at Miramont. Souders will oversee all practice operations, including coordinating patient care, managing the staff and providing innovative solutions to healthcare. She has been in the medical profession for 12 years and has expertise in oncology, primary care and geriatrics. She will receive her degree in health administration this summer through the University of Phoenix and will continue to study psychology and management.

The McKee Medical Center Foundation presented Wayne Williamson, PA-C, with the fourth annual McKee Community Health Award at the annual McKee Thanks luncheon March 8. Williamson was nominated by Melvina Romero, who made the nomination to recognize his commitment to the health care needs of the Loveland community through his work at the Loveland Community Health Center.

LAW
Dick Gast, a Fort Collins lawyer practicing with Myatt Brandes & Gast PC, has been selected to the Colorado Super Lawyers list as one of the top lawyers in Colorado for 2012. The list is compiled based on peer evaluations and professional achievement, with no more than 5 percent of the lawyers in the state being selected.

MEDIA/MARKETING
Linda Finnerty joined Linden, a Fort Collins-based marketing firm, at its Cheyenne, Wyo., location. Finnerty brings 25 years of branding and strategic marketing experience with state agencies, educational institutions, non-profits and companies like Harley Davidson, John Deere, FedEx and Yamaha to Linden. Before Linden, Finnerty worked for 11 years in business development for Townsquare Media Marketing in Wyoming.

BOARDS
Jenna Seigel, associate attorney at Otis, Coan & Peters LLC, was appointed to the Board of Directors for the Rocky Mountain Innosphere. RMI is a non-profit corporation that gives start-up businesses a foundation for growth, providing entrepreneurs with an opportunity for a successful beginning. Seigel received her law degree from the University of Colorado Law School and her practice focuses on business transactions, real estate transactions and banking, lending and creditors’ rights as related to real estate and commercial loan transactions.
