Colorado small businesses are less likely to change health insurers for the upcoming year, even as they anticipate continued price increases, according to the second-annual Delta Dental of Colorado Small Business Survey.

Jeff Nuttall became the newest member of Embrace Northern Colorado’s Board of Directors. The board is a group of renowned civic leaders dedicated to creating a great future for Northern Colorado through preserving and enhancing the quality of life by bringing leaders together to address the region’s challenges and opportunities. Nuttall is the publisher of the Northern Colorado Business Report.
Russ Johnson was confirmed as a member to the Colorado State University System Board of Governors by the Colorado Senate. Johnson, 61, is a Republican from Sterling who was appointed by Gov. John Hickenlooper.
Alliance Construction Solutions LLC welcomed its newest staff members: Kyle Barrett, superintendent/project manager; Todd Konigsfeld, assistant superintendent and Robert Buss, project engineer. Barrett is responsible for the firm’s quality-control program and will coordinate field personnel and the flow of work for subcontractors, suppliers and various personnel on site. Konigsfeld will help maintain quality control and lend support and advice to all field personnel. Buss will assist the project team in providing administrative and technical services in the fields of scheduling, cost engineering, subcontract coordination and general project administration.
Bank of Colorado has hired Sue Wagner as senior vice president, commercial lender, in Fort Collins. Wagner will be responsible for all facets of lending, including real estate, consumer and commercial opportunities in Northern Colorado.
Ryan Behm, a financial associate with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, has qualified for Summit Circle, the organization’s second-highest recognition level for sales and service. Nancy Behm, also an associate with Thrivent, has qualified for the Sierra level, another award for sales and service. Shannon Hein of Fort Collins has joined the Behms as an office professional with the organization’s Rocky Mountain Regional Financial Office. Hein will manage the marketing and public relations strategy for the team.
Northern Colorado business owners Carol and Mike Maguire were honored with Legacy and Dynasty awards for superior sales and service satisfaction at the Home Instead Senior Care network’s recent annual international meeting.
Tom Skinner has been elected to the board of directors of the Structural Engineering Association of Colorado. As a principal and key staff member at JVA Inc., Tom continues to participate in management, leadership training, business development, human resources and operations.
JVA Inc. has announced that Mark A. Van Nostrand, P.E. has joined the firm. Nostrand will be a part of the JVA Environmental Department as a senior project manager and will be working in the Boulder office.
Flood and Peterson, one of the Rocky Mountain region’s largest insurance brokers, announced the addition of Aaron Eide as the company’s newest risk advisor for large commercial businesses.
Otis, Coan & Peters LLC announced that Brett Payton has become an equity member of the firm. Payton’s practice at OCP will focus on all areas of real estate and business litigation, including creditor’s rights in bankruptcy, judicial foreclosures and insurance coverage and related disputes. The firm also hired attorney Reid R. Hollander.
Diana Butler, a veteran of the Peace Corps and experienced community organizer, will be replacing Ariana Friedlander as the program coordinator for FortZED Community Energy Challenge. Friedlander is stepping down to focus on her other business ventures. Butler will now be organizing outreach and coordinating ZEDfest, a communitywide celebration of home-energy efficiency.

Betti Seay fills the newly created position of vice president of community relations. She had been vice president of business relations for 17 years. Susan McClain is vice president of business development. She previously worked in business development for both the Denver/Boulder BBB and BBB of Northern Colorado and Wyoming. Luanne Kadlub fills the newly created position of communications editor. She began working with the BBB as a contract employee in 2005 and was most recently BBB media relations manager. Audrea Butler, who began working for the BBB in 2007 as a contract employee working on IT, is now online communications specialist. Shelley Glause, who started four years ago as a dispute resolution counselor, now does investigations, education and outreach, including media relations. Damian Schlereth has been hired as a dispute-resolution and advertising counselor. He was corporate sales manager for Marriott Northwest in Atlanta. Desiree Luca is now a BBB business development specialist. She has been with the BBB since 2008 as an administrative assistant. Susan Anderson, who has been with the BBB for one year, is now a BBB business development specialist. She previously was a retention specialist. Myrna Davis is a BBB business development specialist specializing in retention of BBB Accredited Businesses. She comes to the BBB from Stock Building Supply and BMC. Stanton Carter joins the BBB as BBB business development specialist contacting businesses in outlying areas. He was with UPS previously.
