Dianne Gleason of Boulder was promoted to executive vice president and U.S. technology practice lead for San Francisco-based Grayling, a global communications firm. To capitalize on the region’s burgeoning technology, health and wellness, sporting goods and sustainability sectors and leverage Gleason’s longstanding roots, the company will expand its Colorado presence with a new office in Boulder. Gleason joined Grayling in October as senior vice president for Grayling Denver’s public relations practice and has more than 20 years serving senior roles in technology and consumer public relations.

WomenGive, a program of United Way of Larimer County, was started in Larimer County in 2006 as an opportunity for women in our community to come together to help other women.

Jacque Wedding-Scott, chief executive of consulting firm Whitestone Strategies LLC, was named interim executive director of the nonprofit Loveland Downtown Partnership. Her duties will include creating and developing a sustainable Downtown Development Authority; creating an event and marketing plan in cooperation with the Community Marketing Commission, Loveland Chamber of Commerce and other entities; implementing key elements of the approved city infrastructure plan; increasing residential and employment density in the downtown area; and assisting emerging and existing businesses in navigating various local, county and state regulations and tax policies. In addition, she will work with the LDP board to conduct a national search for a full-time executive director, a position it hopes to fill by next spring. Wedding-Scott previously was city manager of Centennial for almost five years, after serving as finance director for the city of Lakewood. She earned a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Colorado-Denver.

EDUCATION

Terri Fiez, director of strategic initiatives and a professor in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Oregon State University, was named vice chancellor for research at the University of Colorado Boulder. Fiez will begin her duties on Sept 16. A former National Science Foundation Young Investigator awardee with more than 150 publications, Fiez has been at OSU since 1999 and has served as a research leader, the head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, the Research Agenda Strategy Consultant to the Vice President for Research and head of the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Fiez earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Idaho and a Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from OSU. At CU-Boulder, she replaces Stein Sture, who will retire from his current post as vice chancellor for research after 35 years of service to the campus. Sture has agreed to remain in his post through Sept. 15 and then return to the College of Engineering and Applied Science as a professor.

ENGINEERING

Leadbetter

Robert “Chip” Leadbetter rejoined Fort Collins-based CTL|Thompson, a geotechnical, structural, environmental and materials engineering firm, to oversee its Helical Pier Lab, one of the few facilities in the world accredited to test helical foundations as required by the International Accreditation Services. Leadbetter has served as a geotechnical engineer and expert for more than 20 years, including six years as Northern Colorado division manager for CTL. He was most recently senior geotechnical engineer at Interralogic Inc., where he managed geotechnical explorations, performed stability analyses and designed foundations and geo-liners for new mining facilities, mining expansions and reclamation of complete mines.

HEALTH CARE

McBride

Lamar McBride was named chief operations officer at Northern Colorado Long Term Acute Hospital in Johnstown. A 20-bed, free-standing facility that provides long-term acute and critical care for patients recovering from serious injuries or illnesses. McBride has more than 18 years of experience in health-care strategy development and implementation. He previously was administrative director of ancillary services at an acute-care hospital in Westminster. McBride earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in health-services administration from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Ill.

HIGH TECH

Still in stealth, Lafayette-based Liqid Inc. named its first official group of advisers, including technology veteran, business leader and author David Bradford, serial entrepreneur and advanced-technology investor Brian Hinman and data-center technology visionary Anil Rao.

Karen Blasing joined the board of directors of Boulder-based security-intelligence company LogRhythm. Blasing most recently served as chief financial officer and treasurer of Guidewire Software Inc. During the preceding 30 years, she held various senior finance positions, including chief financial officer at Force10 Networks, senior vice president of finance at Salesforce.com, vice president and chief financial officer at Nuance Communications and chief financial officer at Counterpane Internet Security.

MANUFACTURING

Carrie Teffner, executive vice president and chief financial officer for PetSmart Inc. (Nasdaq: PETM), was appointed to the board of directors of Niwot-based Crocs Inc. (Nasdaq: CROX). Peter Jacobi voluntarily retired from his position on the board. Both changes were effective June 9. Teffner has more than 27 years of consumer-goods and retail-leadership experience to Crocs’ board. Prior to her position at PetSmart, she was CFO for Weber-Stephen Products, a manufacturer of grills and grill accessories, and for Timberland, a footwear manufacturer and retailer. Teffner spent the first 21 years of her career in various business and leadership roles for Sara Lee Corp. Crocs makes casual footwear for men, women and children.

REAL ESTATE

Geoff Frahm joined The Group Inc. Real Estate in Loveland as a broker associate/partner. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado Boulder and has worked the past 15 years with Group Publishing in Loveland.

Norris

Chris Norris joined Express Employment Professionals in Longmont as a business developer. He previously gained 18 years of business operations and development experience with Adecco and Manpower Staffing Services as an onsite manager and national account program manager. He has degrees from the University of Phoenix.
