LAFAYETTE – The City of Lafayette has launched its third annual Green Business Recognition Program to honor business owners who take steps toward sustainability.
The program, set up by the city’s Energy Sustainability Advisory Committee (LESAC), will honor Lafayette businesses who have been involved in sustainable activities, such as energy savings, water conservation and recycling.
“We’ve designed the awards program to allow businesses to build upon their sustainability efforts and have the opportunity to achieve increasing status levels each year,” said Curt Cheesman, director of recreation for the city, in a statement.
There will be three levels of recognition: bronze, silver and gold. All qualified applicants will be awarded for the corresponding category, said Debbie Wilmot, public information officer for the city.
Winners will be announced in October in newspaper ads, on the city’s website and at a city council meeting.
Lafayette business owners can apply here by Sept. 15.
