National Hispanic Institute names CSU University of the Year

FORT COLLINS – Colorado State University said it has been honored by the National Hispanic Institute as University of the Year.

The honor recognized CSU’s efforts to encourage higher education within the Latino community.

The university, the only state-supported institution identified to work with the National Hispanic Institute, was recognized for hosting the Lorenzo de Zavala Youth Legislative Session each summer in addition to promoting participation through the Alliance Program and other partnership activities. The Alliance Program unites students, families, high school educators and CSU with a common goal of promoting education beyond high school.

CSU has worked with the National Hispanic Institute for almost three decades, said Ernesto Nieto, founder and president of the Maxwell, Texas,-based organization.

“CSU has set a high standard for strategic partners who work with NHI in developing youth leaders,” he said.
