N.C. company suing OtterBox

A North Carolina company is suing OtterBox in a defensive move to head off a trademark-infringement lawsuit, the Triangle Business Journal reported.

Universal Mania Inc. of Raeford, N.C., is seeking a court declaration that it hasn’t violated names associated with OtterBox products, the Raleigh-Durham newspaper reported this week.

OtterBox said in an October letter that Universal’s eBay store was selling $16.99 protective cases labeled “Defender.” OtterBox has registered its Defender Series as a trademark for one of its own products.
