Muni broadband could cost Fort Collins $125M
The most expensive of three options for providing broadband to its residents could run the city of Fort Collins $125 million.
The Coloradoan reports that the high figure would be for the city to build out a fiber-optic network to every home and business in town and run the new utility itself. A second option — building out the network and partnering with a private company to offer the services — would cost $88 million. The third option, the paper noted, would be to partner with a private company that would provide services through its own network.
