Mrs. Fields Confections acquires assets of Maxfield Candy Co.

BROOMFIELD — Famous Brands International, the parent company of TCBY Yogurt and Mrs. Fields Cookies, announced Wednesday that its subsidiary Mrs. Fields Confections has acquired virtually all of the assets of International Confections Co. LLC, which was doing business as Maxfield Candy Co.

Broomfield-based Famous Brands’ subsidiary acquired the Salt Lake City-based candymaker’s assets after it fell into receivership.

International Confections, which makes premium candy brands including Maxfield Candy and Nutty Guys, was a longstanding Mrs. Fields licensee.

She said in a written statement that the prior owner had a team of highly-skilled employees who were put out of work once International Confections went in receivership.

Famous Brands is a portfolio company of Chicago-based Z Capital Partners LLC, a private equity firm with approximately $1.9 billion of assets under management.
