Most of region’s RadioShacks to remain open, some to rebrand
All but one of the RadioShack stores in the Boulder Valley and Northern Colorado will remain open if one of the company’s largest shareholders gets its way in bankruptcy court.
The Denver Business Journal reports that New York hedge fund Standard General LP is angling to buy 1,723 of RadioShack’s roughly 4,000 U.S. stores. Under its plan some of those stores would stay open as standalone RadioShacks, while some would be co-branded as Sprint or General Wireless stores.
The only store in the region slated to close is the one in Longmont’s Harvest Junction shopping center at 225 Ken Pratt Blvd. The other location in Longmont, at 1755 N. Main St., would remain a standalone RadioShack under the plan, as would the Boulder store at 1895 28th St. Stores in Greeley, Broomfield, Loveland and Fort Collins, meanwhile, would be co-branded.
