Memorial Health System CEO Dr. Larry McEvoy will leave his position May 4 after four years with the city-owned hospital.
A Memorial spokesman said McEvoy is not leaving for a new job, but that his departure was a mutually agreed on separation and that McEvoy would receive 18 months pay in a severance package. McEvoy was given a raise in January to $670,009 a year.
In a statement, Memorial said McEvoy’s departure was not due to performance issues, but because “the CEO role has shifted from one of vision, strategy and planning to one focused on operations” as the city negotiates to lease Memorial to University of Colorado Health.
Mike Scialdone, Memorial’s chief financial officer, was named interim CEO.
In a statement, University of Colorado Health said McEvoy’s departure would not affect negotiations to lease the hospital.
