LUH, Centura Health cut ribbon on neighborhood health center in Firestone

FIRESTONE — Centura Health and Longmont United Hospital on Thursday held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for their new Centura Health Firestone Neighborhood Health Center.

The neighborhood health center at 6600 Firestone Trail promotes collaboration between different specialties, prevention, patient education and easy access to the key components of optimal health — primary care, pediatrics and lab services, according to a prepared statement.

Firestone, population 12,600, was named one of the fastest-growing towns in Colorado from 2000 to 2010 with population growth of 436 percent.  In 2013, Firestone was named by Money magazine as one of the country’s top 50 best places to live.

“The availability of high-quality, affordable medical care is attractive to families and businesses moving to Firestone,” said Julia Davis, executive director of the Carbon Valley Chamber of Commerce. “This new practice helps our community members easily see a doctor — and build a lifelong relationship — right in their home town.”
The Firestone Neighborhood Health Center is accepting new patients. The center is staffed by two Centura Health Physician Group practices offering primary-care services.

Pediatrician Dr. Lori Smith, part of CHPG Pediatrics – Firestone, will offer medical care, immunizations for infants, children and adolescents up to age 18.

Family-medicine physician Dr. Josh Taylor, part of CHPG Primary Care – Firestone, will offer primary-care services to patients, including yearly physicals and screenings to managing lifelong conditions and diseases.
The center is integrated with Longmont United Hospital at 1950 Mountain View Ave., where patients can access a hospital for acute services, and then a primary-care physician to follow up with them after a hospital stay.
“By providing comprehensive primary-care, urgent care, emergency services, specialty care and hospital care, patients who choose Centura Health receive world-class care, delivered by locals in Longmont and the Carbon Valley,” said Peter Powers, LUH’s vice president of operations. “We are bringing patients the right care, at the right place, for the right price.”
Longmont United Hospital and Centura Health also are partners in the Indian Peaks Medical Clinic in Frederick.
